The work consists the cutting of trees and brush to promote forest health and hazardous fuel conditions. The project has an estimated 24 acres of pre-commercial thinning, an estimated 24 acres of fuels reduction, and the commercial harvest of an estimated 15 thousand board feet (15 MBF) of timber over a two year period. The contractor will be given title to specified timber in exchange for the fuel treatment and forest health improvement work. The Stewardship Project site is located near Sumpter Oregon in the Vale District of the BLM, Oregon. This project may also include an additional parcel of US Forest Service land with an estimated 22 acres of fuels reduction and the commercial harvest of 50 thousand board feet (50 MBF) of timber over a two year period.
