This solicitation is a performance-base contract to provide mid-story removal services. The contract is for non-personal services, which requires hand crews with chainsaws and other applicable cutting tools for removal of mid-story vegetation in pine stands to improve habitat conditions for red-cockaded woodpeckers. The Contractor is responsible for determining the best method and manner to accomplish this work in compliance with the terms, conditions and specifications. The Contractor must furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, supervision, supplies and incidentals. This project will consist of an estimated quantity of 507 acres, located within the Choccolocco Wildlife Management Area of the Shoal Creek Ranger District-Talladega National Forest in Alabama. This acquisition is 100% set-aside for 8(a) concerns. The NAICS code for this acquisition is 115310 and the size standard is $5 million dollars. All vendors are required to be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) prior to award of a Federal contract. The preferred method for completing registration is via the World Wide Web at http://www.ccr.gov/. A handbook and other information are available at that site, including information on how to obtain a DUNS number, which is required to begin the registration process. Solicitation package will be posted and available to download on http://fedbizopps.gov on or after March 12, 2004. The scheduled date for the Pre-Bid/Site Visit will be included in the solicitation.
