The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has a requirement for fuels management services 33 miles north of Susanville, California, out Highway 139, in a project area accessible via BLM Road #26017. The purpose of the STEWARDSHIP PROJECT is to provide services for fuels reduction and forest health improvement via Stand Density reduction through Commercial thinning (105 MBF board feet / 202 acres), Understory canopy reduction (2020 green tons biomass removal), and Brush ladder fuels reduction. The project area contains an estimated 202 acres of sawlog material removal and product other than logs (POL) service activity on public lands administered by the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office. The project area is primarily Ponderosa and Jeffery Pine timber types with some Western Juniper included. The slopes range from 0-30%. The Contractor shall develop and submit a Treatment Plan and Schedule to accomplish the project objectives, and organize and direct all of the equipment and personnel needed to fully accomplish the work. This includes furnishing labor, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals to perform all work necessary to accomplish the required services. The period of performance will begin on or about October 1, 2004 and may continue for up to 2 years. This requirement is 100% set-aside for small businesses under NAICS 115310. This solicitation will be available on or about August 5, 2004. A pre-proposal site tour will be held on August 16, 2004 at 9:00 am.
