Gold Basin Stewardship - Small Diameter Wood Salvage and Slash Treatment Project Objectives: The purpose of this contract will be to reduce tree densities of mixed ponderosa pine, lodgepole pine and Douglas-fir forest types in terms of stems per acre and canopy closure using stewardship contracting authority. Understory thinning on 320 acres would remove most trees under 8.0 inches dbh within spacing guidelines and trees would be salvaged from 4.0 to 8.0 inches in diameter. Existing standing and down woody debris, and slash created from service work will be pilled or chipped. It is anticipated that funds will be exchanged in the performance of this contract, and that the value of salvaged wood will offset some of the cost to the Government for the work to be performed. The proposed contract shall be performance based. The Contractor shall develop and submit a technical proposal and pricing to accomplish the objectives as described in the Statement of Work and other sections of the solicitation package which is anticipated to be issued on or about May 19th, 2005. the contractor will be required to organize and direct all of the equipment and personnel needed to fully accomplish the work. The contractor shall furnish all technical expertise, labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals necessary to complete the work required. The technical proposal will be agreed upon by both parties and incorporated into the contract. All changes to the proposal will be agreed to prior to the changes taking effect.
