Durango Hills Mechanical Fuels Reduction Project. Mow/mulch vegetation on approximately 300 acres and thin/remove vegetation on approximately 42 acres on National Forest Land within the Durango Hills project area. Conventional logging equipment would be used to thin ponderosa pine, thereby reducing the fuel loading, increasing the distance between tree crowns, and creating a more natural, clumpy structure. Mechanical equipment such as a Hydro-mower or Hydro-axe would be used to mow/mulch vegetation within the project area to create larger openings and increase the distance between clumps. A mosaic of mature oak would be retained within the project area to benefit wildlife, create diversity within the vegetation, and enhance visual aesthetics. The solicitation for this project will made available only through the Federal Business Opportunities website. This project is set aside for samll business concerns.
