The project work consists of brush and slash reduction services in thinned plantations. The intent of this contract is to reduce fire potential and competition from brush and insect habitats within the slash. The project is to be completed by piling the slash and brush for future burning (a crawler tractor with brush or rock rake, bulldozer blade, and rollover protection system is required). The Contractor is to provide all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies and incidentals to complete the work. Location: The project is located on the Sierra National Forest, High Sierra Ranger District. Item 1. Take State Highway 168 from Fresno, CA thru the town of Shaver Lake, CA to the junction of Forest Service road 8S10 (which is known as the Red Mt. Road). Units are along this road and its tributaries. Follow maps to project area. Item 2. To access these units, take Hwy 168 east from Fresno to Shaver Lake. Follow the Dinkey Creek Road for about 9 miles to the intersection with 10S17 (Providence Creek Road). Take forest road 10S17 for about 9 miles down to the intersection with forest road 10S18. The Bretz units are on or near 10S18 north of Providence Creek.
