THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE-SOURCE CONTRACT AND IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS.  The intent of this Special notice is for informational purposes only.  The USDA-ARS-NCAUR-PEORIA, IL intends to solicit a quote and award a sole source procurement to Apex Controls Specialists, 5521 Industrial Road, P.O. Box 687 Mt. Vernon, IN  47620-7200, pursuant to the authority of 41 U.S.C 253(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will satisfy Agency Requirements.  The award will be to complete retrofits, upgrades and repairs of the control and drive systems on the Werner & Pfleiderer ZSK-30, serial number 180447, twin screw prototype extruder which will be conducted on site.  The Government intends to award a firm fixed price Purchase Order for the supplies on or about August 2, 2012.  After Market research and Publishing of Sources Sought it is determined that there is only one source available to complete the retrofits and upgrades on-site.

 The NAICS code for this action is 334516.  ARS requires that all contractors doing business with the Acquisition Office must be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR).  No award can be made unless the vendor is registered in CCR.  For additional information and to register in CCR, please access the following website:  http://www.ccr.gov/CCR.
