The purpose of this Invitation for Bid (IFB) is to procure two synchronized wire rope reeling machines for the Cable Car Holdback and Rewinder Replacement Project. The proposed work involves the design, fabrication, and training for specialized machinery necessary to replace the cable car cables. In order to replace each of the four cables in the cable car system, two separate, specialized reeling machines are required. During the cable replacement process, one machine functions as a rewinder unit by collecting a damaged and/or old cable, and the other functions as a holdback by dispensing a new cable into the system while maintaining tension in the line. The SFMTA encourages Bidders to attend a virtual Pre-Bid Conference via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday, May 26, 2021, at 11:00 AM Pacific Time (PT). The SFMTA will address Bidders’ questions and will provide any new or additional information concerning the IFB or selection process at the Pre-Bid Conference.
