BACKGROUND
The Exhibition Program at the National Library of Medicine produces special displays, traveling banner exhibitions, education resources, and websites about the cultural and social history of science, medicine, and technology for libraries, museums, and cultural institutions and audiences across the country and around the world.

OBJECTIVES
To provide exhibition coordination services for all phases (content development, design, and fabrication) for two distinct projects: the history of domestic violence and forensic nursing, scheduled for promotion mid-August 2015, and the history of health care reform, scheduled to launch before December 2015.
The history of domestic violence includes a special display, traveling banner exhibition, and online exhibition with education resources, and a digital gallery with an extensive digitized archival collection.
The history of health care reform has a traveling banner exhibition, an online exhibition with education resources, and a digital gallery with an undetermined number of digitized materials.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
The exhibition coordinator performs tasks in support of higher level Exhibit Specialists. Duties include:
The Incumbent assists in the installation of assets and operating exhibitions, educational resources, and online projects. Tasks involve developmental technical work related to research, interpretation, and writing, as well as acquisition, preparation, recording, and cataloging for display assets belonging to the National Library of Medicine, other organizations and institutions, and private lenders.
The exhibition coordinator performs tasks in support of education programs that provide access to exhibition concepts for educators and student audiences. The exhibition coordinator collaborates with Team Lead Exhibit Specialists to create products that enhance formal and informal teaching and learning.
The exhibition coordinator assists in the planning of original visual treatments for printed publications or exhibits, or the visual aspects of oral presentations. The exhibition coordinator participates in review and decisions about design matters such as size, layout, kind and quality of materials, medium, color schemes, typography, lighting effects, specific visual elements or materials to be incorporated (e.g., photos, illustrations, or artifacts), reproduction methods, or fabrication techniques.
The exhibition coordinator tracks and monitors information related to assets and scripts, and education resources. The exhibition coordinator prepares and presents asset data to Senior Exhibit Specialists for subsequent development and production.
The exhibition coordinator works with Senior Exhibit Specialists to ensure the physical and legal security of all assets borrowed from other organizations, institutions, or individuals while in the custodial care of the National Library of Medicine.
The exhibition coordinator assists in the management of a traveling exhibition component of the Exhibition Program including recommending tour schedules, confirming bookings, creating supporting documentation, providing customer service, and troubleshooting. Documentation and reports will be prepared so as to conform to Section 508 accessibility requirements (1194.41). ANTICIPATED PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
The period of performance shall be for a base period of up to six months and one twelve month option year period. The period of performance shall begin around late August 2014.
OTHER IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
The proposed acquisition will be procured in accordance with the policies and procedures under FAR 13-Simplified Acquisition Procedures. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement which will be considered by the National Library of Medicine. This Sources Sought Notice is not a Request for Quotations (RFQ), nor is an RFQ available.
Interested firms responding to this Sources Sought Notice must provide a capability statement that displays the following:
(a) Microsoft Word or PDF file in 12 point font
(b) DUNS number, organization name, address, point of contact, and size and type of business (e.g., 8(a), HUBZone, etc) pursuant to the applicable NAICS code)
(c) Technical and administrative points of contact, including names, titles, addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail addresses
(d) Staff expertise, including their availability, experience, and formal and other training;
(e) Current in-house capability and capacity to perform the work;
(f) Prior completed projects of similar nature;
(g) Corporate experience and management capability; and
(h) Examples of prior completed Government contracts, references, and other related information;
The capability statement should contain enough sufficient detail for the Government to make an informed decision regarding your capabilities; however, the statement should not exceed 3 pages (excluding attachments.)
