The Occupational Health Environmental Laboratory, located in Chicago, IL, is an AIHA accredited laboratory providing analytical consultation and services for both internal and external customers at a national level. 90% of the analysis and consultation from the lab is in the Inorganic Metals department, while the other 10% is comprised of analysis in the Organics department and Lake Water Nutrients department he HDS sampler used in conjunction with the 7200 Preconcentrator/7650 Million Air is a breakthrough technology based on helium diffusion which yields a sampler that is small, lightweight, cost effective, universal and defensible. This investment would simplify the collection of chemicals in the workplace for both our internal and external customers. This technology will enable the Environmental Reference Laboratory to deliver highly reliable results which are unaffected by factors that create errors in other diffusive samplers, such as matrix concentrations, varying humidity and fluctuating face velocities. The HDS samplers are easy to use and do not require additional accessories such as tubing, batteries or media selection. The analytical system can accommodate and be fitted to existing Gas Chromatographs that are already functioning in the FOH Environmental Reference Laboratory. Sample preparation does not require the use of extraction using carbon disulfide (a known carcinogen) or any other chemicals prior to injection into the gas chromatograph. The HDS samplers are not subject to sample breakthrough or recovery concerns much like passive diffusive badges or charcoal tube media. This instrument uses canisters that are rugged, stable and reusable thus eliminating the expense of purchasing passive diffusive badges with short shelf lives. The Entech 7200 Turnkey Preconcentrator will increase the Lab's capability to analyze volatile organic samples for the EPA TO-15 analytical method. This will create a new product line for the Lab with increased revenues. Entech Instruments Inc. is the only vendor that develops and sells this type of analytical system. Entech Instruments is the only company that builds and sells this analytical instrument.
