This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation and a separate written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation number is NICHD201800057 and is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ). The solicitation/contract will include all applicable provisions and clauses in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-98. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 541380 and the business size standard is 1000 employees. This acquisition is being conducted using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in accordance with FAR Part 13. Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) intend to contract on a sole source basis with Gatan, 5794 W Las Positas Boulevard, Pleasanton, CA 94588 for a Elsa Cryo-Transfer Holder.

A cryo-transfer holder is required to load cryo-em samples and keep the samples at cryogenic temperature for cryo-em data collection. This new designed Elsa cryo-transfer holder can hold the liquid nitrogen for up to 8 hours. With this holder and automatic data collection software, NIDDK cryo-em facility users can run the experiments through overnight which will greatly improve the efficiency of all the cryo-em research projects. Elsa cryo-transfer holder is a newly designed cryo-em holder which is required for cryo-em work. It has a Dewar that can hold liquid nitrogen to keep the cryo-em samples, which is loaded onto the tip of the holder, at cryogenic temperature for up to 8 hours. To keep the sample at cryogenic temperature is crucial for collecting cryo-em images.

Standard profile cryo-transfer holder that enables single tilt control and low-temperature of radiation-sensitive, frozen-hydrated specimens for cryo-EM. Includes model 1905 temperature controller, cryo-transfer workstation, valve upgrade kit, and tools. Requires purchase of the model 655 turbo pumping station with the valve upgrade kit.

Valve Upgrade Kit (Elsa)
Upgrades existing turbo pumping station to be compatible with the Elsa cryo-transfer holder.

Elsa Installation
Includes installation and basic product training performed at the time of install
