The Cell Processing Section (CPS) is responsible for the manufacture of human cells and tissue-based products utilized in phase I/II clinical protocols for transplantation, adoptive immunotherapy and gene therapy conducted in the Clinical Center at the NIH. Cell processing procedures are tailored to each of the 30 or more different patient-care clinical research protocols supported. Dynabeads are reagents used in the preparation of highly purified unique immunotherapy products for treatments of critically ill patients. A reagent is "a substance used to detect or measure another substance or to convert on substance into another by means of the reaction which is causes." Patients are enrolled in approved clinical protocols. The Dynabeads are used for stimulation of cells in culture.
