The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Natick Contracting Division on behalf of the U.S. Army Natick Soldier RD&E Center (NSRDEC) intends to award a firm fixed price contract under FAR 13.106-1(b) (1) to only one responsible source, UPN, Seo-gu, Daegu Korea for dyed Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) textiles in the color of Tan 499.
Background: The Government (NSRDEC) is currently evaluating alternative outer carrier textiles for use in the modular scalable vest (MSV). The candidate materials must be lighter than the current Class III, Type IV 500 d Nylon while still retaining high strength. UHMWPE textiles are a prime candidate for study, but only if they are available in Army relevant colors or patterns, with particular emphasis on Tan 499
Description: Provide UHMWPE textiles that are:
• Are piece dyed to appropriately match the color Tan 499 (SAE color 20180)
• Uses fibers of 300 Denier or less
• Is 100% UHWMPE fiber in plain woven construction
• Has water repellency coating added
