Digital Automatic Terminal Information Service (D-ATIS).
The system shall provide text-to-speech technology using natural "speech concatenation" to broadcast Air Traffic Information Service (ATIS) messages via the existing tower radios in the tower broadcast area. The vendor shall provide the audio equipment required to interface the D-ATIS system to the existing radio equipment.
The D-ATIS system shall support a voice broadcast of the following message types: METAR (Weather, Altimeter and Remarks), Runway Use, NOTAMS and Field Conditions.
To increase pilot and Air Traffic Control (ATC) efficiency, the system shall also support the transmission of the D-ATIS messages in text form to pilots using the ACARS data link network via NIPRNET.
The system shall provide the capability for the pilots, ATC personnel and administration
to listen to the D-ATIS messages via phone connection. The D-ATIS system shall be installed in the tower with assistance of tower personnel. Tower staff shall be provided hands on training during the system installation.
This system will be used to replace the current technology. This is a Brand Name requirement.
