The Work to be done consists primarily of ecological restoration of approximately 39 acres of the Los Angeles County Flood Control District (LACFCD) detention and storage basin at DeForest Nature Center and a portion of the former Dominguez Gap Spreading Grounds, including earthwork to modify grade including export of excess material, improving hydraulics from existing storm drains through sediment removal and regrading low flow channel, wetland creation, grading a floodplain area where feasible with habitat enhancements, providing instream structures for grade control and habitat including step pool and water control weir structures, removing non-native vegetation, creating ephemeral (“vernal”) pools including grading and installation of pond liners, procuring container stock plants and maintaining for planting with native species, planting native species, hydroseeding and hand seeding, designing and installing irrigation system, soil testing.
