First published Monday, August 4, 2008 The University awarded a contract for DCEO consulting to Merano Consulting Services, Springfield, IL, for an estimated $35,000. This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the Business and Industry Services (BIS) at the University of Illinois is contracted to continue to provide staff support to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity objectives to support the development and implementation of the new Workforce Development Project. Part of the Workforce Development Project includes labor market analysis and planning for statewide project development and evalation. These objectives work in conjunction with the Critical Skill Shortages Initiative. Merano Consultants was an original member of the BIS team to support CSSI review and provided assistance in conducting special studies and analysis. Because of Merano Consultants early involvement and expertise in specific Illinois labor market information products and methodologies it is important to continue to use this vendor to meet the high and aggressive timelines with DCEO initiatives and internal systems and processes.
