Focused forums provide the command an opportunity to disseminate joint warfighting capability needs to industry, academia, and government agencies to discover innovative solutions for a specific operational issue. This forum will address challenges in improving our capability to operate effectively in an urban environment. Primary objectives for the upcoming forum include: 1) Finding ways to accomplishing the mission in densely populated areas with minimum collateral damage and loss of life, 2) Developing a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the all levels of the battlespace, 3) Ensuring reliable and secure communications in urban environments, 4) Improving the position location of friend, foe and neutrals, 5) Improving the realism of urban environment training. Agenda includes joint urban operations challenges in several areas, to include: command and control, weapons, training, models and simulations and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. The USJFCOM Focused Forum enables the command to disseminate information on identified joint warfighting technology needs, and following the forum, permits industry and other interested communities to provide possible solutions. The meeting will be held at the Chesapeake Conference Center, 900 Greenbrier Circle, Chesapeake, Virginia, (http://www.chesapeakeconference.com/).
