The National Library of Medicine (NLM) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) proposes to procure from Apple Incorporated, 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA 95914-2084. The requirement consists of the acquisition Apple build-to-order XServe Model Z0DB, AppleCare Premium Support for XServe, Mac OS X Server Maintenance (36 months), XServe RAID, and XServe RAID Premium Support. The Period of Performance/Warranty for these is 3 years. It runs from September 29, 2007, through September 28, 2010. This acquisition is less than the Simplified threshold. This support will be performed under the warranty. Apple Incorporated is the only party known to NIH that can meet the above requirements for the existing network/system. A Sole Source is warranted to maintain the continuity of the environment, avoid service disruptions, and provide the best value to the government. This is not a solicitation for competitive proposals. However, if any other interested party believes that it can meet the requirements it may submit a statement of capabilities. The capability statement and any other information furnished must be in writing, and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NIH to determine if the party can meet all of the foregoing requirements. Offers must also be accompanied by descriptive literature, warranties, and/or other information that demonstrates that the offer meets all of the foregoing requirements.
