Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount: The Boise Lab currently uses ePOC meters for blood gas analysis in the lab. RALS License is required for connectivity allowing results to pass from the device to the lab middleware (Data Innovations). This service is necessary for the Boise VA Medical Center and is considered essential as it allows the medical staff to tests patients blood which assists providers in diagnosis and monitoring of patients health. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used: Boise VAMC currently has the devices (host and readers). Alere is the sole-source supplier of RALS System. Switching to a different device would require validation studies between the current devices and a new device.
