The purpose of this action is to modify contract number N00039-04-D-2021 toextend the contract for up to six months as a "bridge" until the award of thefollow-on Business, Operations and Administration Support Services N65236-09-R-L004, N65236-09-R-L005 and N65236-09-R-L006 is awarded. TheGovernment will execute a bilateral modification, pursuant to the authority ofDFARS 2 17.204, to contract N00039-04-D-2021 in order to make this change.DFARS 2 17.204 provides authority to extend existing services contracts for upto 10 years, provide there is a justification and approval (J&A) to modify thecontract for the extension action.The effort described herein will provide a continuation of support until thecompetitive action is awarded. In accordance with FAR 6.302-1(a)(iii)(A),theseservices may be deemed available only from the original source (SIM.). Toaward a follow-on contract for a period of only six months would result insignificant duplication of cost and effort that could not be recovered throughcompetition.
