DESCRIPTION: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 6.302-1, with Craic Technologies, for the acquisition of Craic MSP accessories, including standard reference materials to accurately calibrate the light source, a higher magnification objective, and a polarizer- analyzer system to properly analyze a variety of fibers.

***** Sole source determination for this procurement is based on the need to acquire new accessories for NIST's existing Craic MIcrospectrophotometer (MSP).
Craic Technologies is the only manufacturer licensed to sell these products, its associated specialized parts-light sources, microscope accessories, and has been identified in the market research as the company that exclusively supports this technology. Craic Technologies does not sell repair parts or its operating software to third parties. No distributors or re-sellers have been identified.
*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, with a small business size standard of 500 employees.

******A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
