The City of Bakersfield Purchasing Division is soliciting bids from qualified suppliers for providing an annual contract for furnishing street materials. Purchase of the materials shall be funded in whole or in part by a grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and as such supplier shall be required to abide by certain Federal contracting provisions and requirements. It is the City’s intent to contract to assure a continuing and reliable source of street materials. The needs herein stated are those that may be termed immediate, usual and common. The City of Bakersfield does not intend to split this bid award between suppliers. However the contract shall be considered a non-exclusive agreement between the parties and, due to expected contract demands, the City may elect to award contract to more than one supplier in the form of primary and secondary contracts. Additionally, the City may elect to competitively bid any work, if deemed to be in the best interests of the City or required by code or law. The work consists of furnishing street materials to the City of Bakersfield for the HUD-funded Alta Vista Area, California and P Area, and East California Area Curb, Gutter, Sidewalk and Reconstruction Projects. The City or a City-hired trucking firm will pick up the materials at supplier’s plant. Product must be available Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Minimum load size to be 4 tons. The City’s estimate of the materials to be furnished is approximate only, being given as a basis for the comparison of bids. The City of Bakersfield does not expressly or by implication agree that the actual quantities of materials purchased will correspond therewith, but reserves the right to increase or decrease the amount of any bid item or to omit any bid item that may be deemed necessary or expedient by the City due to budget or other constraints.
