The City of Bakersfield is requesting bids from experienced and reputable contractors for providing a Contract for Construction of HUD-funded Curb and Gutter. Award, if any, resulting from this Invitation to Bid shall be for a one (1) year period. One (1) original bid signed by an official authorized to bind contractor and one (1) copy of the signed bid, are to be submitted to the Purchasing Division, Attention: Kim Berrigan, Purchasing Officer, 1600 Truxtun Avenue, Second Floor, Bakersfield, CA 93301, on or before 11:00 a.m., March 5, 2013. The City of Bakersfield Purchasing Division is soliciting bids from qualified contractors for providing a contract for construction of HUD-funded concrete curb and gutter in areas referred to and defined herein as Alta Vista and East California areas. Contractor shall furnish and use, at his own expense, all materials, labor, tools, equipment, supplies and transportation to provide the work specified herein. All work shall be commensurate with the highest professional standards and shall be performed in a good and workmanlike manner, by experienced personnel specializing in the construction of concrete curb and gutter. It is the City’s intent to contract to assure a continuing and reliable source of service to provide for the construction of concrete curb and gutter. The needs herein stated are those that may be termed immediate, usual and common. All prime contractors and subcontractors are required to pay the higher of either the rates published in the Davis-Bacon Wage Determination issued by the U.S. Department of Labor (Federal) or the General Prevailing Wage Determination issued by the California Department of Industrial Relations (State) to all laborers and mechanics and other workers on this project.
