The City of Bakersfield Purchasing Division is soliciting bids from qualified contractors for providing a contract for construction of HUD-funded concrete curb and gutter in areas referred to and defined herein as Alta Vista and East California areas. Contractor shall furnish and use, at his own expense, all materials, labor, tools, equipment, supplies and transportation to provide the work specified herein. All work shall be commensurate with the highest professional standards and shall be performed in a good and workmanlike manner, by experienced personnel specializing in the construction of concrete curb and gutter. It is the City’s intent to contract to assure a continuing and reliable source of service to provide for the construction of concrete curb and gutter. The needs herein stated are those that may be termed immediate, usual and common. The work consists of the construction of concrete curb and gutter. Work shall be assigned by the Streets Division and shall be in both commercial and residential areas of the City. The work shall be performed under the direction of, and to the satisfaction of the City of Bakersfield Public Works Department Streets Division. Contractor shall perform work in such a manner to avoid disruption of the normal vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The City’s estimate of the quantities of work to be done and materials to be furnished are approximate only, being given as a basis for the comparison of bids. The City of Bakersfield does not expressly or by implication agree that the actual amount of work will correspond therewith, but reserves the right to increase or decrease the amount of any class or portion of the work or to omit portions of the work that may be deemed necessary or expedient by the City due to budget or other constraints.
