The hospital needs maintenance and support for the system used by the Transplant Center at UI Heath. The system provides a UNOS compliant Solid Organ Transplant database. This major investment in TransChart was made in response to systems improvement agreement with the federal government, Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), which mandated UI Health to implement a solid organ transplant database. The database provides quality safeguards relating to health and safety features for the transplant recipients and living donors. The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the procurement is software license, upgrade or maintenance.
