Program background:
USAID is working in partnership with the Ethiopia Ministry of Health to improve health infrastructure throughout Ethiopia as part of USAID's Ethiopia Health Infrastructure Program (EHIP). The current phase of EHIP includes completion of construction of 17 health centers in rural areas of Ethiopia and construction of a new national blood center in Addis Ababa. The combined estimated price of this construction effort is approximately about $10,000,000 (USD).

Up-coming contract opportunity:
USAID currently plans to release a Request for Proposals (RFP) for construction of the 18 health facilities on or about October 14, 2015. This request will appear on FEDBIZOPPS website and in local newspapers. A pre-proposal conference will be held approximately five business days after the RFP issue date at the US Embassy in Addis Ababa. Mandatory site visits will take place during the two weeks following the RFP presentation. The deadline for proposals is planned for late-November 2015. Under USAID's current plan, proposals will be evaluated in November/December 2015 and contracts will be signed in December 2015/January 2016.

Firms that are potentially interested should register in the US Government's System for Award Management (SAM) immediately. No contract can be issued to a firm that has not completed SAM registration. Registration is free, but the process includes multiple steps and can take approximately six weeks to complete.
