The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Station Support/Simplified Acquisition (SS/SA) seeks to procure on a sole source basis One (1) FV1000 Conofocal System from Olympus America, Inc., 3500 Corporate Parkway, Center Valley, PA 18034
This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 - Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) and FAR 13.5 01-(a)(1) to use Simplified Acquisition Procedure for commercial items. The North American Industry Classification System Code for this acquisition is 334516 and the business size standard is 500 employees.

The NIDA Preclinical Pharmacology Branch currently uses an Olympus FV1000 Conofocal System in conjunction with existing specialized procedures to detect green fluorescent protein-labeled neurons for analysis. Several existing experiments are expected to continue for the next 2 years. It is necessary to maintain use of the FV1000 Conofocal System to maintain controlled variables in these experiments. Changing systems at this time would compromise existing work.

This is not a solicitation for competitive quotations. However, all responsible sources may submit a statement of capabilities. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NOI217233 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, 31 Center Drive, Bldg 31, Room 1B59, Bethesda, MD 20892-2080.
