NUMBER AND TITLE OF THE PROJECT: Confocal Microscope for the Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC) in Orient Point, NY.

DESCRIPTION: The Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC is a research center of the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Foreign Animal Disease Research Unit at Plum Island Animal Disease Center is the primary laboratory in ARS responsible for research on foreign animal diseases (FAD) of livestock, such as foot-and-mouth disease, classical swine fever, African swine fever and vesicular stomatitis, diseases that could be accidentally or deliberately introduced into the United States in acts of agro-terrorism.

PIADC has a requirement for a confocal microscope with a Brand Name or Equal specification to Carl Zeiss, Model # LSM 710 and associated training.

SET ASIDE STATUS: This requirement is 100% set aside for small business. The applicable NAICS is 334516 with a size standard of 500 employees.
