The purpose of this synopsis is to notify industry that a fixed price, sole source contract action is intended to be awarded to Colt Defense, LLC under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1. The sole source, fixed price award shall be made prior to September 30th, 2014. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Border Patrol; requires nine (9) 13" Colt 901 Modular Carbines & one (1) 16" Colt 901 Modular Carbine to fulfill Border Patrol's need for a specialized weapon system that will accommodate both .308 & .223 caliber ammunition. The Colt 901 Modular Carbine is necessary for Border Patrol Tactical Unit operators because it provides those on the front line with a weapon's system capable of multi-mission functionality without the limitations of carrying two different types of weapons. This capability will increase overall situational awareness, officer safety, and mission success.
