Summary VTA seeks proposals from qualified firms to provide design and engineering services for Collision Avoidance and Navigation Systems. 1.2. Background Collision avoidance and navigation systems are technologies designed to improve driving safety and reduce collisions and accidents on the road. Features of these technologies can vary, but many contain warning systems for pedestrian collision, forward collision warning, headway monitoring and warning, speed limit indication, and lane departure warning. Collision avoidance system is a safety system for transit buses, and it visually & audibly alerts the operator when a pedestrian or cyclist is in one of the danger zones around the bus. The system is designed to warn, alert, or assist operators to avoid imminent collisions and reduce the risk of incidents. The safety system will be installed on vehicles which consists of a multivision-sensor system, sensor housings/mountings, operator interface displays and control units that use a variety of technologies such as radar, lasers, cameras, GPS, and artificial intelligence. 1.3.
