The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, NC intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Coherent Laser, Santa Clara, CA 95054 pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This procurement is for one (1) each #1152572 Coherent Chameleon Laser System: Vision II: Integrated Precompensation. The Chameleon Vision II, hands-free ultrafast Ti:Sapphire laser and precompensation in an integrated package. This laser system must be compatible with Zeiss LSM 710 NLO Microscope system. Unique features of the laser system: 1) Output average power required is >3.0 Watt at peak of Ti:S curve, 2) Tuning range of 680nm to 1080 nm range, 3) Tuning speed > 40 nm/s averaged across 680-1080nm, 4) Minimum dispersion compensation = 0 fs 2 across the entire tuning range achieved without optical by-pass feature, zero compensation can be accomplished without beam alignment or re-positioning; and 5) user-replaceable pump diodes. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, the order will be issued to Coherent Laser.
