PROJECT DESCRIPTION: CNCB Elevator Modernization: Estimated Project Duration: 365 calendar days including procurement Modernization of hydraulic passenger and freight elevators. The project scope may include: • Replace Relay Controller with new microprocessor control system, with solid-state starter and battery lowering device. • Replace submersible pump units with new submersible power unit assemblies. • Install seismic rupture valve. • Replace door operator and associated hoistway door equipment with new high speed solid state micro-processor closed loop door operator. • Replace hoistway and machine room wiring with all new code complying wiring. • Replace signals and operating fixtures with new fixtures (ADA). • Install new underground cylinder with PVC casing. • Replace lighting in machine room and elevators cars. • Remove heat sensors. BSB Elevator Renewal: Estimated Project Duration: 730 calendar days including procurement Modernization of four (4) geared passenger elevators, two (2) geared service elevators as well as upgrade to elevator rooms. The project scope may include repairing the following items: • Existing geared machines and DC motors with new AC gearless machines. • Existing deflector sheaves with new, mounted in machine room if possible. • Existing PC Board Logic Controllers with new non-proprietary solid state micro-processor control systems. • Existing SCR drives with new VVVF AC regenerative motor drive units. • Existing door operators and associated hoistway door equipment with new heavy duty high speed solid state micro-processor closed loop door operators. • Existing hoistway and machine room wiring with all new code complying wiring. • Existing governors with new. • Existing car traveling buffers with new pit mounted buffers. • Exiting car and counterweight roller guides with new. • Existing ceilings with new downlight ceilings with energy efficient LED lights. • Add emergency battery power rescue unit. • Existing Relay Controller with new solid state non-proprietary micro-processor control system, with solid state starter and battery lowering device. • Existing door operator and associated hoistway door equipment with new heavy duty high speed solid state micro-processor closed loop door operator. • Existing hoistway and machine room wiring with all new code complying wiring. • Existing signals and operating fixtures with new fixtures. • Install new underground cylinder with PVC casing. The University seeks Contractors with demonstrated experience in elevator modernization. Specific experience requirements include: work within an operational facility with limited staging area, upgrades to existing elevator equipment (control systems, submersible pumps, hoistway door equipment and wiring, signal and operating systems, Title 24, etc.), sequencing of work to accommodate access to all floors, understanding of deferred submittal items to be incorporated on to the project, ADA compliance to adhere to California ADA requirements, provide training and support to owner after completion of work and the use of MS Project schedules for work planning and execution. The Contractor shall have demonstrated an average annual business revenue of at least $3,000,000 over the last five (5) consecutive years. The Contractor must have demonstrated experience on their best three (3) comparable projects with the Contractor providing services as Prime Contractor within the last ten (10) years. Comparable projects should have possessed the following construction challenges: confined spaces to relocate equipment, working in occupied and heavy traveled areas, working with noise sensitive occupants, adhering to strict rules for access to building, limited parking allowable areas, little or no staging area and timely procurement of equipment.
