THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT, NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. A SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED AND PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE REQUESTED. The National Institutes of Health, National Eye Institute (NEI), Division of Intramural Research intends to negotiat and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive basis to the National Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology. The requirement is to provide an ongoing multidisciplincary investigation of a wide range of blinding and disabling eye diseases. Several large families in Pakistan have been diagnosed with a recessive form of retinitis pgimentosa (arRP) or cataracts. Investigators at NEI will continue to study the inherited retinitis pigmentosa (arRP) or cataracts, the most common cause of blindness worldwide, in a similar fashion. This acquisition is being conducted under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirements. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 500 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this notice for consideration in any future requirements.
