The US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in Parlier, CA has a requirement for a HEINZ WALZ GMBH (WALZ) IMAGING-PAM M-series Chlorophyll Fluorometer system is designed to analyze plant stress as indicated via
fluorescence excitation. It can also assess absorbed photosynthetically active radiation (PAR). The desired equipment
features the capacity to analyze both larger leaf samples (up to 10 by 13 cm in area) (MAXI version) as well as smaller
samples as a field-portable unit (for 24 by 32 mm area) (MINI version). The system consists of a minimum of 640 by
480 pixel camera, zoom accessory, an LED-array illumination unit (for blue light), a mounting stand for the MAXI
system, a portable LED-array head for the MINI system, various need mounting stands, and software to process
acquired images.
The USDA-ARS intends to negotiate procurement of the above items with the only know source HEINZ WALZ GMBH (WALZ). Interested firms can submit their proposals to the attention of Fred Gifford, Contracting Officer by Fax or e-mail as listed in this notice.

The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 13/6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 5 days of this synopsis will be considered by the government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
