The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the Department of Defense Medical School and Health Sciences University, hereby announces its intent to acquire on a sole source basis with Primate Products in Redwood, CA for 20 Chinese Rhesus between the ages of 2.5 to 7 years old. These non-human primates (NHPs) are for the second phase of an ongoing experiment. During the first phase of this study 24 NHPs were obtained from Primate Products. Genetic uniformity is critical to compare the 1st and 2nd phase results. Generation traits of each breeding stock differ between breeders of similar NHPs and could potentially produce different results that will make comparisons with existing data impossible. Because of this, the primates must come from the same breeder as that used in previous experiments to ensure consistency. This award is IAW FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1) and authorizes USUHS to award contracts when only one source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
