1. Chemical Compatibility of Materials Testing - The contractor is to conduct chemical compatibility of materials testing on the rocket motor's new propellant.

The original Statement of Work included a task to conduct chemical compatibility testing, but it was not specific and the vendor never priced it into their proposal.

2. Use of Government Furnished Percussion Primers - The contractor is to manufacture the rocket motors using percussion primers supplied as Government Furnished Material (GFM). The GFM primers require additional inspections (visual and radiographic) to be conducted by the contractor.

In the original Statement of Work, the contractor was supplying their own commercially obtained percussion primers.

3. Igniter Testing - The contractor is to conduct fourteen (14) test firings of rocket motor igniter assemblies with the government furnished primers installed. Seven (7) are to be conducted with the current design firing pin and seven (7) with a firing pin made of an alternate material.

This testing is necessary for evaluation of the igniter's firing pin and its impact on the percussion primer. This testing was not in the original contract. It was not known at the time the igniter's firing pin impact on the primer would need to be evaluated.

4. Structural Analysis - The contractor is to conduct a structural analysis of the final rocket motor design.

This task was in the original Statement of Work and was already conducted. The analysis needs to be updated because the design has changed since it was conducted.

5. Manufacture of Rocket Motors - The contractor is to manufacture an additional twenty-nine (29) rocket motors for the qualification testing.

The contractor priced in the manufacture of thirty-three (33) rocket motors for qualification in the original contract, but the Navy has determined additional motors are necessary to complete the qualification testing.

6. Additional Rocket Motor Qualification Testing - Six (6) motors are to be put through the motor's Intermediate Temperature Cycling environment, before being test fired.

The Intermediate Temperature Cycling is conducted by an outside lab. The contractor did not price this testing into the original contract because the original Statement of Work was not clear the Intermediate Temperature Cycling was required.
