The PACOM MPE program office provides customers with a system design of specific hardware, to ensure the enterprise remains secure and sustainable. A closely controlled hardware and software configuration is necessary for the MPE engineers to ensure the system is extensively tested to ensure compliance with the mandatory CSfC security accreditation process. Opening the bid to items other than those specified by the MPE office would effectively cancel the project unless resources could be found to evaluate the compliance and supportability of every major item of hardware and software which the vendors might propose. Such an evaluation would be enormously expensive. Only the items specified meet the combined security, capability and supportability requirements of AMC A3X, the PACOM MPE office and National Security Agency CSfC program.
