NOTICE OF INTENT - Brand Name Justification for Saba Centra Software Maintenance
The Internal Revenue Service intends to award a delivery order for commercial items. We will be issuing an order to a Federal Supply Service (FSS) schedule contractor. This delivery order will be made under the Authority of FAR Part 11.105 and FAR Part 52.211-6 - Brand Name or Equal. The IRS is requesting software maintenance renewal for Saba Centra Software, Centra Enterprise Advantage provides for virtual classroom training, for existing licenses. The IRS will require software support for all Centra licensed products on an annual basis to provide continuing product support and current software releases.
By implementing virtual classroom training, the IRS was able to accelerate the communication of mission-critical initiatives and deliver essential and just-in-time training to onsite and remote employees. Large and Mid-Size Business (LMSB) Division was one of the first to use Centra for administering Continued Professional Education (CPE). Other IRS business units began using Centra from FY 2002 forward, including Agency-Wide Shared Services, Strategic Human Resources, and Tax Exempt and Government Entities to provide updates, CPE, and new technology training to employees, while LMSB continued expanding their use of virtual classroom. By FY 2003, all IRS operating divisions and business units were benefiting form the technology afforded via Centra licenses. The IRS is now planning to expand the capabilities of the tools by continuing to roll out additional features of Centra that are already owned by the IRS.
The delivery order will be fulfilled by one GSA FSS schedule contractor. Questions can be e-mailed to
