The Office of Naval Intelligence located in Washington DC intends to negotiate a firm fixed price contract with Carl Zeiss NTS, LLC, Peabody, MA 01960, on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirement. The acquisition will be accomplished using commercial item procedures in accordance with FAR Part 12 for the purchase of annual maintenance of one (1) Carl Zeiss EVO 60VP LaB6 microscope. The contractor will be required to provide annual preventive maintenance inspections, corrective maintenance services during normal working hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST, application support and training as needed, and updates as needed

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is 811219. Any firms who wish to identify their interests and capability to provide this service must provide proof that authorization from the manufacturer has been attained by notifying the Contract Specialist no later than noon Eastern Standard Time, January 5, 2012. Such notification must include any documentation that includes certifications and description of services that meets or exceeds that capabilities of the manufacturer. Upon receipt of any such notifications, the Contracting Officer will determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement or proceed with the sole source negotiation.

Responses received will be evaluated, however; a determination by the Government not to compete this proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the Office of Naval Intelligence will proceed with the sole source negotiation with Carl Zeiss MicroImaging, LLC.

This is not a request for competitive proposals or quotes.
