The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) Building 35/35A Shared Animal Facility (SAF) and Building 10/5C127 Ambulatory Care Research Facility (ACRF) require 1,500 replacement plastic cage bodies to house research mice on Individually Ventilated Cage (IVC) racks. The new cage bodies will replace existing cage bodies that have become clouded, cracked, and crazed due to repeated exposure to chemicals and high temperatures as part of the weekly sanitization process. To ensure the welfare of the research animals and minimize disruption to Government operations, the replacement cage bodies must be brand name or equal to the existing cage bodies, which were purchased from Tecniplast USA, Inc. in 2003.
