The Library of Congress requires contractor support for transcription of printed books or e-book files to braille files and the pressing or embossing, and binding of that braille.

The contractor shall provide one or more (specified at contract award) of the following three products and services:
• Braille transcription of books fully compliant with NLS specification 800 (Standard Braille Transcription (SBT)).
• Braille transcription of abstruse books fully compliant with NLS specification 800 (Standard Braille Transcription (ABT)) (a contractor that supplies SBT may also contract to supply ABT but is not required to do so).
• Braille duplication and binding of books fully compliant with NLS specification 800 (Standard Braille Duplication (SBD)).

*NOTE:
This solicitation is to fulfill a need for braille transcription and duplication that is not being met with current contracts. Current NLS/BPH contractors who bid on this solicitation must demonstrate their capability to fulfill both current commitments to NLS and the requirements of this solicitation in addition to other customers.
