The Library of Congress requires contract support to produce information sheets in braille for users of the braille and talking book program, which is administered by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS/BPH). The text content must be transliterated to braille from print files or pages, proofread for accuracy, duplicated using a press or embosser, bound, and shipped to three NLS warehouses in the continental U.S. under the U.S. Postal Service Free Matter for the Blind and Physically Handicapped Regulation.
The contractor shall transcribe, press or emboss, bind, and ship in braille, for the Library of Congress NLS/BPH, the publications listed in Section C.3 in accordance with NLS/BPH Specifications 410 and 800, attached (with the exception that sections 3.5.2, 3.6, and 3.9 of Specification 800 do not apply), and the special instructions specified in Section C.3, Requirements.
