The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology of Cambridge, Massachusetts, for booth space at the annual General Assembly of the International Academy of Production Engineering (CIRP) conference in Boston, Massachusetts. Background The annual General Assembly of the International Academy of Production Engineering (CIRP) will take place this year in Boston, MA, August 23-29, 2009. CIRP is the only global organization representing the state-of-the-art research and development activities in the area of production engineering. NIST/MEL is a corporate member of this academy. *****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 611310, and the size standard is $7M. ******A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
