Applied BioSystems is the only company who manufactures this item. The Big Dye Terminator is a chemical reagent that is used for all DNA sequencing in the Lab. There are no commercial substitutes. These reagents are specific to the ABI Sequencers currently maintained in the laboratory. They support a study that is ongoing. It is important to be consistent with the reagents being used in order remain in complaint with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) guidelines.

It is the understanding of the Government that an award to any other source would cause unacceptable delays in meeting the requirements of the Government.
