(i) The purpose of this amendment 01 to synopsis / solicitation NTSB-PUR-14-0258 is to answer questions put forwarded by contractors to date.

Question 1: Our firm does not offer a twin cylinder mounting press. Our press has just one cylinder, for producing one or two mounts at a time. May I quote quantity 2 of our single cylinder mounting presses?
Answer 1: The conservation of limited bench space is the main reason for asking for the two (2) cylinder machine. If a contractor wishes to offer two (2) single (1) cylinder machines, that would be acceptable but the offeror is reminded that the size(s) of the machine(s) must effectively use bench space.

Question 2: Our machine does not offer an automatic dosing system. Would that be a problem?
Answer 2: Dosers are features that assist the laboratory technicians in their operations. Although not a critical element in the machine(s), a machine can function without a doser, a machine offering this type of feature could be rated higher in the best value determination.

Question 3: In the RFQ, you have asked for startup supplies, does that mean mounting compounds, sample clips and mold release?
Answer 3: Start up supplies are defined as a small trial selection of your compounds and mold release and these are expected as a part of the offer. In addition, any required materials specific to the offered machine shall be provided.

(ii) The date, time and place offers are due: 29 August 2014 at 2:30pm EST (DST).
(iii) The individuals to contact for information regarding the solicitation: Ms. Kathleen A. Kern, [email protected], 1-202-314-6104; Mr. Bryan Moy, [email protected], 202-314-6282.
(iv) Any amendment(s) to this solicitation will be issued in the same manner as the initial synopsis and solicitation.
(v) All other terms and conditions of the synopsis / solicitation remain as previously stated.
