The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park NC, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Illumina Inc, 9885 Towne Centre Drive, San Diego, CA 92121, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This request is for gene expression analysis as follows: 1) WG-314-1002- HumanMethylation 450 DNA Analysis BeadChip Kit 96 samples (Qty 4 kits) Kit contains eight (8) BeadChips, along with reagents for amplifying, fragmenting, hybridizing, labeling and detecting ninety-six DNA samples. 2) Shipping and handling. The BeadChip Kits ability to maintain continuity of experimental procedures is crucial to the success of NIEHS Division of Intramural Research and their efforts in continuing to perform the mission of NIH. The use of the Illumina HumanMethylation 450 DNA Analysis and Human Whole Genome DASL HT Assay with UDG BeadChips allow the NMC to provide the Institute with high quality data using the latest in genomics technology. NIEHS is performing experiments to assess the gene expression and methylation status throughout the entire Human genome. Microarray chips made by this manufacturer are compatible with our Illumina scanner, hybridization equipment and bioinformatics database. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received with 5 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 5 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Illumina Inc. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000.
