The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) contemplate award of a Firm Fixed Price contract on a non-competitive basis to Applied Biosystems. The work shall be performed at the Contractor's facility. The delivery date for this requirement will be September 28, 2012. The North American Industrial Classification Standards (NAICS) Code is 334516 and Standard Business Size of 500 employees. The award will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 13.106-1(b) only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirement.
Applied Biosystems is the sole manufacturer and vendor of the BDT V1.1 RR-5000 and Seq Buffer. Applied Biosystems is the only company that manufactures and distributes this product. This is a proprietary product and no other product exists for preparing sequencing reactions for the ABI 3730 Genetic Analyzer.
CDC is not requesting competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the services required are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer no later than 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, by September 21, 2012. Determination not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Respondents will assume all financial costs for preparing a response to this notice. The U.S. Government assumes no financial obligation for the preparation and distribution of prepared responses.
