The work shall consist of:

Supply all materials, labor and insurances necessary to complete the repair of the roof at the lab building at the Bartlett experimental Forest building in Bartlett, N.H.

  1. Prior to contract start, send submittals of materials for CO approval.
  2. Send work schedule to CO and COR for approval.
  3. Strip off existing steel roof cover and dispose of. Contractor is responsible for recycling current metal roofing.
  4. Install Hi Temp Grace Ice and Water barrier on exposed roof surface, on sheathing over entire roof, with a minimum of 6 inches of overlap, with particular attention to application at valleys and eaves.
  5. Install new drip edge, foam closure strips, and metal roof panels
  6. Seal all seams and tie-ins with existing roof to prevent leaks.
  7. Clean up debris from job site.
  8. Include 5 year workmanship warranty.
  9. Include cost per square foot to replace sheathing if necessary.
  10. Foam Closure Strips: Foam closure strips are made of cushioning, durable, and water-resistant foam materials, seen here pictured on a red metal drip edge. Metal roof foam closure strips will be fabricated to fit type of roofing material/shape. The metal roof foam closure strips seal the gaps of the roofing panels. The closures strips will effectively make the roofing system watertight and weather tight, preventing water intrusion and ice damage, while also preventing insects and other animals from getting inside or beneath the roofing panels. Foam closure strips are made at any sizes so they can easily fit to any profile. There are two kinds of foam based on market use. They are closed cell EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) foam, and cross-linked Polyethylene foam. The two kinds of materials are both closed cell foam. They are both excellent at water and moisture resistance, also good cushioning and sealing performance. Polyethylene foam has better flexibility and resistance but generally comes in sheet thickness of 10 mm. The foam closure strips is around 30 mm thick. In order to have a 30 mm thickness, the Polyethylene foam must be laminated together with 3 layers. EVA foam has workable cushioning ability and they are able to be fabricated in up to 100 mm thick, which is enough for making metal roof foam closure strips without the need to laminate. The sizes of foam closure strips mostly depends on the size of roofing panels. The regular length is around 36 inches, width 1 to 2 inches, thickness around 1 inch. The material choice and fabrication method of foam closure strip will be included with submittals.
  11. Any exposed fasteners shall have appropriate neoprene/sealing washers, and be set at appropriate toque.
  12. Standing seam joint and lap joints shall have butyl tape/sealer installed.
  13. All roof penetrations will have appropriately sized pipe boots and proper gasketing.
  14. All ribs and valleys shall have rubber closures or expandable sealant tape.
  15. Butyl tape or expandable sealant shall run the length of the valleys.
