Purchase from Abbott Medical Optics their Baerveldt Glaucoma Implants. Baerveldt drainage implants (US. Patents# 8,353,856; 8,702,639; and 8,920,357) are a patented proprietery device with no viable alternative available. Based upon surgeon preference, the Baerveldt glaucoma implant has unique specifications that justifies their usage. The Baerveldt glaucoma implants have flexible tie-off capability, which can be tight or loose to match complicated procedures. In addition several other unique specifications are available only in the Baerveldt glaucoma implants. These are: Long-term intraocular pressure (IOP) control; reduced surgical time; less trauma and faster healing;low Incidence of Motility Disorders; and single-quadrant insertion. The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the item or service is copyrighted or patented and is not available except from the holder of the copyright or patent.
