The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to conduct negotiations on a sole source basis with the West Virginia University, 886 Chestnut Ridge Road, Morgantown, WV 26505-6845. The objective of the procurement is to obtain information on the vitro cytotoxicity and genotoxicity, including membranolysis, cell viability, cellular cytosolic and lysosomal enzyme release, apoptosis, salmonella mutagenicity, eucaryotic cell chromosomal and DNA damage, and proto-oncogene expression and mutation, of NIOSH-supplied respirable mineral dusts and engine exhaust particulate and semi-volatile organic compounds, assaying particulate samples solubilized in components of pulmonary surfactant to model initial conditioning of respirable particulate material depositing in the deep lung airspaces.
